Frequently Asked Questions

"How long will I be in counseling?"

You determine the length of your treatment. The duration and frequency depend on various factors including how long you have suffered from your complaint, its severity, and your goals.

"Do you accept my insurance?"

We accept a wide range of insurance options and are continually seeking to be paneled with a variety of insurance carriers. We also offer assistance with billing "out of network" providers. Sliding fee scale options are available for those in need. Please contact us for more details regarding our fees and payment options.  We are currently accepting clients with the following insurance carriers:
- Premera Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- First Choice Health Network
- AETNA
- APS Health Plans
- Mines PPO Network
- Life Wise
- Regence
- Group Health PPO Plan
- CIGNA
We also are providers on a number of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). Clients should contact their health benefit representative to see if they are eligible.

Court, Custody, and other legal matters-
As your therapist, our job is to provide support for you in dealing with the psychological, behavioral, emotional and interpersonal issues you present. It is not appropriate, therefore, for us to become involved in your legal matters (e.g. divorce/child custody), because that pusts us in an adversarial forensic role. If, nonetheless, you do require our involvement, please contact us to discuss your specific needs and concerns.

Confidentiality-

"Will my parents know what I talk about with my counselor?"
All sessions are kept confidential in accordance with state law. In the state of Washington in order for a counselor to talk to parents/guardians of children over the age of 13 a special form is signed giving the counselor this permission. Of course both parent/guardian and child are involved in this process. We encourage family participation in counseling and view this as a collaborative relationship.

"Will I be able to know what my child is working on in counseling?"
We view the counseling process as a collaborative partnership between parents, children, and siblings. It is important to remember that in order to create a safe space for change confidentiality must be upheld.

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.
